Import, export, and clone monitors

Export monitor configurations as JSON, import them, and clone existing monitors.

Signed-in operators can export all owned monitors from the Monitors page and import the resulting JSON into another account or deployment. The Export menu on the Monitors page toolbar contains:

  • Import from file…: choose a JSON export to import.
  • Download heartbeat URLs: download the push URLs of monitors created by an import.
  • Recently deleted…: open the recycle bin.

Export

Select Export to download a versioned JSON package containing every monitor and its complete validated configuration, including request headers and bodies. Those values can be required to recreate a working monitor, so treat export files as secrets: store and transport them securely.

Heartbeat token hashes and historical state/results are never exported.

Import

Import from file… accepts a JSON export of at most 100 monitors. Imports are validated and committed atomically: either every monitor is created or none are. Import assigns new monitor IDs and re-creates dependency edges between the imported monitors; duplicate identities, missing dependencies, cycles, unsupported versions, and unknown fields are rejected.

Imported and cloned heartbeat monitors receive new push tokens, shown once after creation. The import result lets you download the new heartbeat URLs as a JSON file.

Clone

Use Clone monitor on a monitor row to copy its current configuration and dependencies into a new monitor named with a copy suffix. The clone starts in the same state as any new monitor; check history, current health state, incidents, and heartbeat tokens are not copied.
