Notification center

In-app notifications, read state, and personal delivery preferences.

The notification center is the personal in-app inbox in the top bar. It is separate from outbound alert channels: the inbox coordinates console users, while channels deliver incident events to email, chat, PagerDuty, webhooks, or browser push.

Read your inbox

Select the bell to open the inbox without leaving the current page. Views are:

  • All: every notification, newest first.
  • Unread: items you have not read yet.
  • Open: issues that are still open.
  • Direct: mentions, assignments, and other items addressed to you.
  • Archived: items you dismissed.

Use the search box to filter by title or summary, and Load more to page through older items.

Actions:

  • Mark as read clears the unread state on one item; selecting an item also marks it read and opens the related record.
  • Dismiss archives an item. In the Archived view, Restore brings it back.
  • Mark all read clears every unread item in your inbox.

Read and archive state is personal: it does not change what other members see, and archiving never acknowledges or resolves the underlying issue.

Notification sources

Notifications cover the work and conditions that concern you:

  • direct events: mentions, incident and task assignments, escalation pages, and tasks due within 24 hours or overdue;
  • incident lifecycle changes and confirmed down monitors without an active incident;
  • SLO fast/slow burn and recovery;
  • stale or recovered monitoring agents;
  • failed or rolled-back deployments, and maintenance starting, overrunning, or completing;
  • alert channels, subscriber notices, or scheduled reports that fail, retry, or recover;
  • setup health findings;
  • expiring or expired API keys, expiring invitations, and missing mail configuration when email-dependent features are enabled.

Repeated occurrences of the same issue update one entry instead of flooding the inbox. A severity change makes the entry unread again, and resolution updates the same entry with an unread all-clear. Activity events such as mentions are one-off entries; they remain in the Direct view for seven days.

Choose your delivery preferences

Open Settings → Notifications, or use the settings control in the inbox header:

  • Addressed to you: mentions, assignments, and approvals always reach your inbox; the switches add email and browser push for them.
  • Critical issues: anything critical anywhere in the workspace, whether or not it is assigned to you; the switches add email and browser push.
  • Devices: browser push is registered per browser. Select Enable on this device to register the current browser; Disable on all devices removes every registration. Push can reach a registered device even when Status is closed.

Email and push delivery are off by default and apply only to direct or critical notifications. In-app delivery is always enabled. These personal preferences do not change organization alert channels; use Alerts for those.
