On-call schedules
Configure responder rotations, handoffs, and overrides.
The On-call page lists scheduled responders. Each schedule defines a weekly rotation, handoff time, optional active hours, and one-time overrides.
Create a schedule
Select New schedule and fill in:
- Name: how the schedule appears in on-call and escalation surfaces.
- Timezone: handoffs and active hours are read on this clock.
- Rotation: the ordered participants. Each participant holds the pager for one week, in this order. Select Schedule enabled to activate it.
- Handoff day and Handoff time: when the pager passes to the next participant.
- Rotation start: where the first week begins.
- Active hours: leave empty for 24/7 coverage. Outside these hours the schedule will not notify anyone, and escalation moves to the next policy step.
- Overrides: named cover for a fixed window, such as holidays or handover gaps. An override takes precedence over the rotation while active.
A schedule can hold up to 100 participants, 20 active-hours windows, and 100 overrides.
Read coverage
- The Who has the pager board shows each schedule's current holder, including active overrides, and why a schedule is not answering (disabled, no participants, or outside active hours).
- The Shift coverage timeline shows a 7-day band per schedule with override blocks.
- The schedule table lists rotation, active hours, next handoff, and which escalation policies page the schedule.
Deleting a schedule warns that escalation policies referencing it will not notify anyone until pointed at a different target.
