Automatic incident severity rules
Assign severity to automatic incidents using ordered rules.
Automatic incidents get their severity from priority-ordered rules you manage under Incidents → Manage → Severity rules. Rules are evaluated only when monitoring opens a new automatic incident; manual declarations always choose severity explicitly.
Add a rule
Each rule combines conditions; every configured condition must match:
- one of the selected owned monitors (or any monitor);
- all required monitor tags;
- an exact folder;
- an exact environment;
- a case-insensitive regular expression against the detected failure message.
At least one condition is required. The first matching rule—by ascending priority, with name as the tie-breaker—supplies the Minor, Major, or Critical severity. If no rule matches, automatic incidents use Major.
Lower priority values match first. Use specific, higher-priority rules for critical services and broader, lower-priority rules as defaults.
