Incident comments and mentions
Internal discussion, replies, and comment permissions.
Incident Discussion contains internal comments. Comments are not published to status pages, included in RSS, or sent to subscribers. Incident updates are separate records that may be published.
Mentions
Writing @handle notifies that person. Writing @team/handle notifies every
member of that team. Typing @ opens a searchable picker with names, avatars,
titles, and team sizes.
Personal handles are unique, lowercase, and editable in Profile settings. Team handles are stable inside their organization. Mention targets are saved when a comment is posted, so later handle or display-name changes do not retarget old comments.
Two things are never treated as mentions:
- Email addresses. The
@inops@example.comfollows a word character, so the domain is not read as a handle. - Trailing punctuation.
@ada.at the end of a sentence mentionsada.
You are never notified about your own comment, including through a team you belong to. Mentions appear in the notification inbox, grouped under Mentions, for seven days.
Permissions
Reading the discussion is available to any member of the organization. Posting is a write action, so a viewer can follow along but not participate.
You can delete your own comments; removing anyone else's takes admin. Deleting a comment removes its replies with it. Every deletion is written to the audit log; posting is not—the comment itself is the record.
