Map resources across products

Map resources across products

Associate Infra resources with Guard assets using stable IDs, and review mappings after replacement or retirement.

Map an Infra resource to its existing Guard asset so shared observations refer to the intended workload. Use IDs and installation identity to distinguish resources that have the same name or reuse an address.

Before you begin

The following conditions must be satisfied:

  • The connection is Connected, and inventory synchronization has succeeded.
  • Both resources exist within the approved projects and asset groups.
  • You have Infra read authority for the source and Guard Administrator authority for the receiving asset group.

If the Guard asset does not exist, use the Guard asset creation operation before mapping it. Creating inventory does not enroll an agent or activate protection.

Confirm a resource relationship

  1. In Console, open Organization → Connector → Connections → Connection → Resources. Select Add mapping.
  2. In Source, select the Infra resource. Compare its installation, organization, project, resource ID, region, and observed address with Infra.
  3. In Destination, select the Guard asset. Compare its organization, group, asset ID, and locator with the intended workload.
  4. In the mapping review, confirm the relationship and select Confirm mapping.
  5. In Resources, reopen the saved mapping. Confirm that both source links open the intended records and that the next synchronization names those IDs.

If a source record is unavailable, inspect the active grant in Grants and the last successful inventory synchronization in Overview. Restore visibility before approving a match based only on a name.

Review a replacement workload

An Infra rename preserves the resource ID and its mapping. A replacement droplet, restored copy, or reinstalled Guard agent has a separate identity that needs review.

  1. In Connection → Resources, open the previous mapping and follow both source links. Record which resource was replaced.
  2. In Resources → Add mapping, select the replacement resource and its verified Guard asset. Complete the mapping review for those IDs.
  3. In Resources, select the previous mapping and select Remove mapping after its historical relationship is recorded in the incident or change record.
  4. Reopen the replacement mapping and confirm that subsequent observations reference the replacement ID.

Removing a mapping does not delete resources or release protection. If the replacement needs a Guard agent, complete endpoint enrollment. For a changed application origin, follow the protected-service origin workflow.
