Availability and SLA reports

Availability and SLA reports

Define reporting scope, maintenance treatment, and evidence for customer or team availability.

Availability reports summarize monitored health over a selected interval for a customer, team, project, or service. A report's calculation policy is distinct from the service agreement it supports.

Define the measured service

Create a report definition under Observe → Availability. Select the resources or service checks, time zone, reporting interval, and required membership rule. For a replicated service, decide whether one failed member constitutes an outage or only failure of the required serving set.

Host reachability and application availability are different signals. A guest can run while its application fails. Use application checks when the reported service promise depends on successful requests.

Missing data and maintenance

Choose how unknown intervals appear: excluded with an explicit unknown duration, or counted as unavailable under a reviewed reporting policy. Unknown data is never silently counted as successful monitoring.

Identify which approved maintenance windows are excluded. An operator creating a retrospective window does not automatically rewrite an issued report. Reports record the policy revision and selected window set used for calculation.

Boundaries and aggregation

The calculation uses the interval's exact start and end and retains its reporting time zone. A local calendar month can differ in elapsed seconds across time-zone transitions. Compare the same measurement policy before aggregating several teams.

Customer allocation labels are resolved into an explicit resource set for the report. Resources transferred or deleted during the period remain identified through the historical evidence available to the selected source.

Export and revisions

An export includes interval, scope, calculation policy, measured downtime, unknown duration, excluded maintenance, and supporting events. A corrected report creates a new revision with a reason; it does not silently replace a distributed copy.

An uptime percentage does not itself determine invoice credits or contractual eligibility. Apply the relevant agreement to the retained calculation evidence. Use audit exports and metrics for supporting records.
